📝 New Student Registration

All new student registrations must be completed electronically.

Please follow the steps below to ensure a successful registration process.

Who Can Register?

Only a parent or legal guardian may register a student in the Township of Union Public Schools.

You must reside in a permanent domicile within the Township of Union.

📜 Policy 5111 - Eligibility of Resident/Nonresident Students

Age Eligibility

Kindergarten: The child must be 5 years old on or before October 1 of the school year.

❗ No exceptions will be made for children who do not meet this requirement.

📜 Policy 5112 - Entrance Age

First Grade: The child must be 6 years old on or before October 1, must have completed a Kindergarten program, and must be recommended for first grade by their teacher.

Required Documents

📎 All documentation must be uploaded in PDF format during the online registration process.

📅 You must also bring originals or copies of the following documents to your in-person appointment:

🔐 Identification

Government-issued photo ID (parent/guardian)

📄 Proof of Student Identity

Official/Original Birth Certificate (in English)

🏡 Proof of Residency

Choose from the following (must provide multiple forms):

Deed or Mortgage Statement

Current Municipal Tax Statement

5-C Affidavit of Landlord

Current Lease (must list all occupants)

Three (3) Current Utility Bills (dated within 45 days):

Cable, Cell Phone, Credit Card, Electric, Gas, Water

Pay Stub, Financial Statement, Car Insurance, etc.

Current Immunization Record & Health Profile (signed by a physician)

🏫 Academic Records

Transfer Card with NJ State ID Number

Transcripts / Most Recent Report Card (for placement)

⚖️ Legal Documentation (if applicable)

IEP or Section 504 Plan

Court Custody Orders or State Agency Agreements

Guardianship Documentation (if not biological parent)

📝 Residency Affidavits (if applicable)

6C - Affidavit of Resident:

The resident must provide a lease/mortgage and 3 utility bills

Parent/Guardian must provide 3 utility bills from the list above

The resident must attend the in-person appointment

6A - Affidavit for Unaccompanied Minors
